Porcelain Veneers
There's no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, misshaped or crooked. Today cosmetic dentistry includes veneers that can be placed on top of your teeth to correct nature's mistakes and life's mishaps and help you have the smile you've always wanted.  Deepali Verma, DDS can turn the smile you envision for yourself into a reality.

Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer is a thin shell that is placed over the front or visible parts of the tooth. These ultra-thin veneers will achieve a firm bond to the tooth, resulting in a natural appearance that is unsurpassed by other restorative options.  They provide a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth's color, size or shape. Veneers can mask stains or injuries, or discolorations due to a root-canal procedure. In a number of cases Dr. Verma will do prep less veneers meaning there is no/minimal prepping and so that no shots are needed. Veneers wrap around the chewing edge and go interproximally between teeth to create life-like translucency and contour. They are also ideal for masking unsightly fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps, pronounced chipping or severe wear may also consider veneers. When multiple veneers are placed on adjacent teeth, crowding and malalignment can be corrected or erased. Because veneers are carefully sculpted and shaped, many people feel they have gone through instant orthodontics or a smile make over. With proper care your veneers will greatly improve your appearance and increase your confidence for years to come.  Generally, veneers have shown remarkable longevity of at least 10 to 15 years due to the strength of the porcelain and the extreme thinness of the cement used to place them.

CROWNS

A crown is a full coverage restoration that is placed on a tooth to restore cosmetics and function. It is needed when severe breakdown due to fracture or decay in excess of two-thirds of the tooth is present. Crowns are also used to restore teeth that have previously had root canal or endodontic treatment. Years ago, crowns were only made of gold, providing strength but very poor cosmetics. Today, there is a wide selection of materials to choose from. The factors, which affect material selection, are the tooth location and forces of occlusion or the force of chewing the crown is to endure. Most cosmetic crowns are made from pressable ceramics. No metal is used, therefore, making this ideal for front teeth. Patients will no longer see gray or black lines at the gum line. Without metal, the natural translucency and light reflection of the porcelain create a life-like, beautiful smile. In the posterior areas of the mouth or in patients who exhibit problems with their bite or occlusion, there are several variations of porcelain fused to gold crowns. These are beautiful restorations needed for strength in areas where translucency is not an important factor. With constant home care and maintenance crowns last an average of ten to 15 years.

Bridge

Dr. Verma will prescribe a bridge when one or more teeth are missing and there are healthy teeth on both sides of the open space. Bridges can be made from three types of material, solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results.  The two natural teeth have to be reduced to accept a crown. These two crowns are connected by the pontic or missing tooth. Bridges can be various lengths depending on the number of natural teeth supporting it. A bridge resembles natural teeth in cosmetics and function, but because they are all connected, flossing and home care for the patient may be difficult. Patients with prosthetic dentistry should visit for regular cleanings three to four times a year to prevent failure. With proper care, your new bridge will increase your overall health and instill confidence for years to come.
